Snorkeling is one way man can be up close and personal with animals and plants living in the water. The best snorkeling in the United States is thought to be southern Florida. This past summer I spent several weeks in Florida and got the opportunity to snorkle at the ONLY park in our country that is completely underwater--John Pennekamp State Park.
Fortunately you don't have to have your own snorkeling equipment (masks, fins, snorkels and vests) as the park has rentals available to you. One of the highlights of a snorkeling trip is going to one particular diving and snorkeling location called Dry Rocks Reef. Luckily I was able to be at the right place at the right time and catch a boat to this location. The video below shows some of what I saw after arriving (after our 5 mile boat trip out to sea) and swimming about 300 feet from our boat. The Christ of the Abyss statute was most impressive!
